Arts & Cultural Activites

Jindabyne if full of artistic talented people, from painters to sculptors, photographers and crafters.

Their works can be seen in a number of places around Jindabyne, usually in gift shops supporting local artists such as Romance Me in Nuggets Crossing, Design Detail in Town Centre and the Kosciuszko National Park Visitors Centre gift shop.

In Autumn, over Easter, Jindabyne comes alive with the Lake Light Sculpture Festival. Here you can wander the path of the foreshore from Banjo Paterson Park and view the exhibits by day or spectacularly lit by night.

At the same time, the Art Show and Quilting Exhibition is in full swing in the Memorial Hall. Painting and Photographs are available to purchase from the Art Show, a perfect opportunity to show your support of Jindabyne artists.

Music & Nightlife in Jindabyne

It’s all fun and games in Jindabyne, a party town for the young at heart, whether eating, drinking or recapping the day’s fun in an Après Ski lounge.

You won’t go thirsty in a ski town, nor will you starve. Restaurants line the streets with food to suit every palate. Popular choices are burgers and pub meals, where the value is second to none.

The likes of The Banjo Paterson Inn, The Lake Jindabyne Hotel, and The Brumby Bar are staples to the areas nightlife. The Jindabyne Bowling Club offers great value, and great food and entertainment can be found at Rydges Horizons.

Thredbo Mountain Biking

Thredbo is famous for its legendary Thredbo Downhill. The long ski runs are transformed into a downhill mountain bike haven. The downhill mountain biking runs are accessed by the year round chairlift everyday from November to May, so it’s a chairlift up and ride on down! There is also the “Cannonball” track for the more advanced mountain bike pursuit or the more gentle trail “Kosciuszko Flor Trail” for the intermediate rider.

White Water Rafting near Thredbo

When the winter finished the snow melts, and with the seasonal spring rains this generates plenty of white water into the local streams, lakes and rivers. White water rafting Upper Murray River is a fantastic activity that is the best rafting in the Snowy Mountains. Ride grade 1-3 rapids.

Thredbo Chairlift Ride

One of the most popular attractions in Thedbo and the Snowy Mounts is the scenic Kosciuskzo Express Chairlift, 1.8km long with a vertical rise of 560 meters in 15 minutes. It’s the best place to start the summit walk to Mt Kosciuszko. It operates throughout the year, and you can purchase tickets from the Thredbo Sports Office located at the bottom of the chairlift, or you can phone 02 6459 4119.

Golf in Thredbo & Berridale

Thredbo Golf Course is Australia’s highest golf course, the AGU rated 9 hole golf course in Thredbo is located alongside the Thredbo River with challenging features such as Snake Pit and Wombat’s House.
Golf clubs and equipment can be hired, and green fees purchased at Thredbo Sports located at the bottom of the Kosciuszko Chairlift or phone (02) 64594119.

The Coolamatong Snowy Mountains County Golf Club

Coolamatong Golf Course operates on a voluntary bases with fantastic lush green fairways and greens, indeed they are certainly on a par to most top courses. Recent visitors to the course have been amazed by the fairways and greens.

The course features gently undulating fairways guarded by well maintained pine trees. Also featured are several water hazards, but only one sand bunker. Motorised carts, pull buggies and hire clubs are all available. Pathways are provided for getting around on this fabulous 18-hole course.

Social golf is available every day (from 1pm Sunday & Wednesday) with competitions being held on those days around 9am for both ladies and men where visitors with a GA Golf handicap are most welcome to book in.The Club uses Golf Genius as its digital booking system for competitions and is easy to follow at www.coolamatonggolfclub.com.au Members and visitors are well catered for within the clubhouse and can sit around in a comfortable surrounds which includes a licensed bar and facilities open on Sundays & Wednesdays.

Horse Riding near Thredbo

Horse back riding is very popular in the Snowy Mountains and Jindabyne. It’s part of the culture! ‘The Man from Snowy River’. Guided treks through the mountains, lasting from two hours to two days or more, are a must for horse back riding vacations.
